Trump pushing Coke to use Cane Sugar | |
2025-07-18 | |
[CNN] President Donald Trump announced what could be refreshing news to some Americans on Wednesday: thanks to him, Coke is changing its American recipe. "I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I’d like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola," Trump said in a post to social media. "This will be a very good move by them — You’ll see. It’s just better!" A spokesperson for The Coca-Cola Company did not confirm the change, but told CNN in a statement, "We appreciate President Trump’s enthusiasm for our iconic Coca-Cola brand. More details on new innovative offerings within our Coca-Cola product range will be shared soon." ------------------

#18 Skid with any luck it our beet farmers in western Minnesota will pick up the slack without any problem. As far as cane vs beet, pretty much identical. In fact we have been using beet sugar to top off our beehives going into winter for decades. Less solids and 4 times the amount of peroxide (in the sucrose honey) which greatly benefits the bee gut over the long winner. In fact far better for the overwintering hives that nectar honey. |

#8 High fructose corn syrup is a processed food. It's poison. Too much sugar isn't good for you but hell, the human body is designed to digest it. HFCS? No. We banned the red dye made from petrochemical residue for the same reason. No amount of money for farmers is acceptable if we pay with our health. MAHA! |

#5 I believe that beet sugar and cane sugar are basically indistinguishable, beet sugar is the more dominant crop in our country, so you would more than likely be getting beet sugar in your coke. |

#4 /\ Now, can we get the ethanol out of gasoline? F-150 purrs nicely on non-ethanol. Costs a bit more, but I'm willing to pay for better performance. |

#2 ^A matter of habit. When I lived in US (well NM, but it's the same thing), it took me time to get used to cane sugar (and I never got used to adding sugar to meat dishes). |
