[Regnum] Tsunami waves after the earthquake in Kamchatka affected the coast of Washington State. This was reported on July 30 by the US National Weather Service.
"The first tsunami waves have reached La Push and Westport. Stay away from the water and shore until local authorities say it's safe to return," the service said in a social media post.
It is noted that the height of the waves reached 48 cm. Also, the tsunami after the earthquake in Kamchatka affected the coast of California. The waves were recorded by tide gauges in the settlement of Crescent City and Humboldt County.
Fox News reported that tsunami waves also affected the coast of Hawaii. The material shows that it took the tsunami about six hours to complete its "journey" of more than 5.6 thousand kilometers from the epicenter of the earthquake.
Earlier in the day, an 8.7 magnitude earthquake struck Kamchatka. The seismic event was the strongest since 1952. In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the wall of a kindergarten collapsed during the tremors ; no one was hurt. Residents of Kamchatka were injured while running out of buildings at the time of the earthquake.
