[ShabelleMedia] At least 35 suspected terrorists were killed Saturday morning during a series of airstrikes by Nigeria’s military at a town in the country’s northeastern state of Borno, which borders on Cameroon, the Nigerian Air Force said. Ehimen Ejodame, the air force’s spokesman, said in a statement that the airstrikes were carried out following reports of an attempted attack on ground troops in Borno’s Kumshe town. The military launched “successive strikes at four identified assembly areas,” Ejodame said, with ground troops later confirming that the situation had stabilized around their location. Recent sustained operations aim to provide close air support to ground forces and disrupt terrorist logistics and movement corridors in the Nigeria-Cameroon border region, he added. |
