Biden officially RESTARTS Trump's 'Remain in Mexico' policy
|
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Background to yesterday’s story in the subject.- Biden was forced to restart on Thursday the Trump-era Remain in Mexico policy
- Known officially as the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) program, asylum-seekers will now have to return to waiting in Mexico for their cases to be heard
- It comes as four GOP senators introduced a bill that would prevent Biden from paying illegal immigrants who were separated from their families under Trump
- Bill was proposed by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senators Thom Tillis, John Cornyn of Texas and Tom Cotton
| A warning shot across the Democrats’ bow? It doesn’t seem likely the Republicans could get such a bill through both Houses of Congress with veto-proof majorities, and I haven’t noticed any predictions that the 2022 election will deliver those numbers. |
