#1 In the olden days I used to surf and swim at Imperial Beach. The Silver Strand and Coronado are just north of Imperial Beach and I would also surf there with some of my disreputable buddies. These days people are advised not to even go near those waters because of sewage from Mexico.

I must admit I don't surf much anymore and I am aware that surfers don't count for much in a world where money, economics and politics are considered far more important.

But it pisses me off really, really bad.

What do we get from Mexico? I know. I know. There is some legitimate trade. But there are also illegal aliens, fentanyl and sewage. They are uncivilized and hostile. It seems to me like a casus belli.

If I was the POTUS, I would close that border altogether and sever all relations with Mexico until this problem is resolved. I'd put a stop to even the legitimate trade so as to hit them where it hurts. It's no good for the Mexican government to plead poverty. They certainly have enough money to treat their sewage and, until they do, they can go to hell.

#3 Tijuana Estuary empties into the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The pollution is such as disaster it's been labeled a Super Fund Site.

Mexico will be Mexican. And Baja is a certainly a different flavor of Mexican. If Americans want it done right, I suggest America should do it themselves. Depending on Mexicans will result in Mexican Answers and none of you would send your kids to Mexicans Schools to be taught Mexican Answers. Si?

#4 ^ Close, but Otay River dumps thru the South Bay Salt Works ponds to the bay. I was project manager for the Bayshore Bikeway segment in the 13th St (IB) to Main St (CV) portion including two bridges that I oversaw construction. I wouldn't step in the water if avoidable, but it's nothing as bad as the Tia Juana River, like Hollister St. Abu gets it
